Wedding Venues

We have been fortunate to have worked in some fantastic venues throughout New Zealand. People often ask us what photo opportunities are available at their chosen venue or in the surrounding area. So we have put together a few ideas and photos that we have created at various venues. This is just our ideas and there will be many more but hopefully it helps with your own plans. Please contact us if your venue isn't here, we may have it on file.

Allely Estate
This turn of the century villa is just as stunning inside as it is outside. With it's nice furniture, beautiful wooden floors and soft window light there are plenty of places for those romantic shots. Outside there are mature trees, nice gardens, using the villa as a backdrop and it's stairs are other options. Some great surrounding photo locations include farms, train tracks, Kumeu buildings, Muriwai beach and forest. View Gallery »

Bella Vista Tauranga
Perched majestically in the hills with stunning views over Tauranga, Bella Vista is unique.The views alone will guarantee some epic photos. Although there are plenty of options outside, the interior is equally impressive with its grand staircase, four poster bed and authentic furniture being just some of the features. View Gallery »

Belsaas Estate
The ceremony area is very unique we have never seen anything like it. With a huge dedicated area for ceremonies which includes layered seating and Roman style pillars makes it very photogenic. The venue is set in a working kiwi fruit orchard. As well as the orchard there are lovely grounds with mature trees. We often shoot out to Maretai or the Auckland botanic gardens both around 20 minutes away. View Gallery »

You know your somewhere special when you see the grand gates at the entrance to Bracu. The area is huge and as well as the vast rows of olive trees there are lakes, mature trees and access to the cellar with loads of vintage wines all making for great photos. Shots in the olives particularly in the late afternoon light look stunning. View Gallery »

Bridgewater Country Estate
The cute little church is a great backdrop for the ceremony and with the natural amphitheater, rustic tennis courts and lake Bridgewater has a lot to offer. With nicely set up tracks wandering through the bush and over bridges there is no shortage of outdoor variety in the one location. From the rustic to manicured gardens there is a bit of everything. Carrington's at Piha
Being a restored pump house, Carrington's is an outstanding historic venue. Check out the exposed brick and Kauri beams. Being in the university grounds you have the whole place to yourself on the weekends. As well as the pump house itself there are other buildings around Unitec including a Marae which make for interesting backdrops. There are also some huge trees and an over bridge which we have used. There is also Pt Chevallier beach nearby and your only a few minutes from the motorway if your after a city look. View Gallery »

Carringtons Resort
If your lucky enough to get married here you in for a treat. It is simply special having the reception between all the wine barrels, the smell itself is divine. You have access to a white sandy beach, normally there isn't a soul for miles and it feels like your on a desert island. We often use the golf course, the bridges, gum trees, the swimming pool, and the resort itself has some cool rooms and decks. Normally the hardest part is to fit all these lovely locations in. This European style venue is beautifully nestled between the trees in the Waitakere Rangers. The Ceremony site sits in a stunning grass setting surrounded by ferns which makes for great photos. With it's exquisite French/Italian furniture and textured walls with detailed doors this place has a lot of character. The one way bridge and Bethells beach are great for photos and if it's windy there is Lake Wainamu to shelter by the huge sand dunes and pine trees which also offer many possibilities. Sitting on the cliff top high above Karioitahi Beach, Castaways is made for panorama shots. If your lucky you may get a friendly wave from a photo bombing paraglider. The beach offers endless opportunities for photos and it’s always a great shot with the wedding car out there. With a 4WD you have access to some amazing lookouts and pine forests without the difficult walk. View Gallery »

Chardy Ridge Waiheke
Situated on the highest dwelling point on Waiheke Island Chardy Ridge offers fantastic panoramic views towards the City and Rangitoto Island. The house itself has a large spacious light filled feeling so rainy weather photo shoot isn't a problem. Along the driveway there is a nice little paddock with long grass and an established orchard that gives a lovely rustic feel which contrasts nicely with the beach photos. Waiheke has it's own micro climate and no matter which way the wind blows one side of the Island is invariably sheltered and allows for those classic Waiheke Beach photos. View Gallery »

Charlemagne Lodge Tauranga
This elegant Victorian villa stands out as a bay of plenty landmark. The large detailed veranda, manicured gardens and tree covered driveway offer great photo options. With a short drive to Tauranga you can go for a more industrial look with the container yards, old buildings and motorway bridge. There is also the stunning Mount beach boasting it's glowing white sand, the dunes and with the towering Mount as a back drop what more could you ask for. View Gallery »

This exquisite venue is situated in it's own private courtyard with open flames and fish pond. Surrounded by extraordinary architecture with large pillars, high walkways and large concrete frames giving a very modern edgy look to your images. The central location offers many opportunities for photo shoots as your close to the waterfront. View Gallery »

Devonport (Mc Hughs/Duders)
Devonport is a beautiful village by the sea, surrounded by the stunning waters of the Hauraki Gulf providing it with many safe white sandy beaches. The two volcanic cones Mt Victoria and North Head are great for panoramic views over the city and Rangitoto and there are many wharfs and boat sheds if your after that rustic look. - We particularly like Stanley Wharf with the cool shed and epic city views and Cheltenham Beach for those classic Rangitoto background shots.

Situated near the town center on Devonport's historic waterfront Duders offers views over the harbour and city. The stairs leading up to Duders and the reception room are very funky and offer some great photo opportunities. Devonport township is great for photos giving you a busy small town look. There are also many beaches, boat sheds, wharfs and the two volcanic cones which offer great views over Auckland. View Gallery »

Situated in Auckland's exclusive wine region of Kumeu Gracehill is a very elegant venue. With it's stunning private lake, manicured gardens, chessboard, love seat, wharf, pagoda, grape vines, willow trees and villa Gracehill has so much to offer. Including all those amazing photo options on site there are many farms and orchards in the area and the farmers are normally happy to let us use their properties provided you ask first. A huge boat to yourself with you and sixty of your closest friends and the Bay of Islands with all it's secluded bays and beaches at your disposal how could you not get good shots. View Gallery »

Kelliher Estate
Set on it's own private island surrounded by stunning sub-tropical and native gardens this historic homestead makes you feel like your in the tropics. As well as outside there is so much to see inside as the house has been returned to it's former glory. From the original art to the carved woodwork this house is full of detail with many different things to look at and use for photographs. The gardens offer many photo options from the manicured hedges and larger than life sculptures to the farm fences and fields, horse stables and mature trees. View Gallery »

Kumeu Valley Estate
As you enter Kumeu Valley you are drawn to the stunning rustic building showing off the large bell tower surrounded by beautiful manicured grounds. The nice rustic feel of Kumeu Valley's stunning wooden interior with beautiful window light shining through offers the opportunity for some lovely elegant photos. Outside the wharf, mature trees, swing and the building's exterior continues the rustic theme. To contrast with the rustic theme some great off location photo opportunities are Muriwai beach, the surrounding farms, Matua valley or the train tracks all only minutes away. The warm fire and rustic interior makes it a great venue for winter weddings as well. View Gallery »

This garden of paradise has acres of tropical trees and plants with lovely walking tracks to explore. The grounds are beautifully manicured with old sheds a hut with one of west Auckland' oldest surviving house's there is plenty of history here as well. The entire photo shoot can be done on location as there are so many different areas that can create a variety of looks. View Gallery »

Leigh Sawmill
The Leigh Sawmill cafe is situated close to Goat Island. It has a rustic feel to it including ornamental gardens dressed in lanterns which light up at night. The surrounding rural area includes Goat island reserve, farms, long gravel roads which are great to photograph the wedding car on, and Leigh harbour. View Gallery »

This French vintage venue privately tucked away behind the shops mixes well with modern Mt Eden's outlook over Auckland city. Mantells itself has plenty of stunning photo shoot options for that French vintage look. Mix that with some shots in Mt Eden township or on Mt Eden itself overlooking the city and you get a nice variety between a modern and vintage look. View Gallery »

Markovina Vineyard Estate
With 5 stunning ceremony locations and a reception setting covered in grape vines, Markovina vineyard estate caters for many types of weddings. As well as several props, ponds, gardens and trees it is conveniently close to Muriwai beach, Matua Valley and Kumeu township which offers a nice variety and many photo opportunities. View Gallery »

Mc Hughs
For a venue on the beach this is the place to be. Sitting on the foreshore of Cheltenham beach Mc Hughs offers panoramic views of Rangitoto and the Hauraki Gulf. There are many boat sheds, beaches, wharfs and of course the two old fortifications Mt Victoria and North Head which offer views all over Auckland for the photo shoot. View Gallery »

The art work is amazing it's the first thing we noticed in the entrance, a massive two story high photograph on the wall, absolutely stunning. Mollies is extremely luxurious and romantic with a high level of detail, a range of furniture and props enhancing it's Victorian charm. There are just so many places to get cool shots here. This timeless upmarket venue sits on a winery, the building is made out of bricks and offers the best of Auckland and Gulf views with grapevines in the foreground. The texture in the bricks offer a great backdrop for photographs and the stunning interior has lovely natural light coming in through the windows. There are stunning beaches, boat ramps, grape vines, epic views and wharfs near by. View Gallery »

Northridge Country Lodge
This unique private Tudor-styled estate sits on picturesque grounds amongst a 9 hole golf course. The surrounding trees, stunning manicured grounds and garden features offer great on site photo options. We often like to go offsite as well to ensure we get a variety of looks on our photo shoot. There is a neat rustic one way bridge near by and of course the stunning beaches including our favorite on Chelverton road with it's textured rocks, large overhanging trees and beautiful white sands. This unique venue is one of the few in New Zealand where you actually sit over the water. The views are fantastic over the inner harbour, city and the evening sunset to the west. The long wharf and rocks next to the venue and Mission bay are great for photos that relate to the ocean theme. There is also Bastion Point, the inner city, Wynyard Quarter and Westhaven nearby for other photo options. View Gallery »

Orakei is elegantly situated overlooking the water surrounded by its stunning waterside gardens. We really like the interior lighting around the large staircase offering some great modern/elegant photos. Mission bay, Bastion point and the city are all handy for an off site photo shoot. Pensabene House Tauranga
Pensabene House is the ultimate garden wedding ceremony venue with a stunning ocean backdrop. The large beach house is surrounded by manicured gardens leading to a stunning view of the beach. The pearl white sandy beach and dunes is great for that paradise look plus there is Tauranga township and the train bridge if your after a more industrial look. View Gallery »

Situated on the Puhoi river this cute historic village has retained much of its Bohemian atmosphere and culture. There are some fantastic buildings here like the general store, the community hall and church. Nearby Wenderhold offers many photo options too including the beach, rocks, cliff textures, mature trees, wharf and the historic homestead. View Gallery »

Walking inside Settlers is like entering another world, the large banquet room with massive beams, period features and authentic style furniture make it special. The building itself with big arch windows, the beautiful water feature and the acres of bush with streams and bridges means there are heaps of photo options no matter what the weather is doing. Muriwai, Kumeu and the railway lines are only minutes away if your after off location photos. View Gallery »

Skycity Grand Hotel
A wedding on the deck of the Skycity grand hotel is something special. Standing on the deck looking up at the Skytower high above you enjoying watching the terrified sky jumpers zooming down the side. Getting married here you have many options from city/industrial to beach and bush all nearby. You can include photos at the Skytower, the city, Westhaven, Wynyard quarter, or even Mission bay. There are so many options in this central location. View Gallery »

This modern country vineyard is a world away from the city, the grape vines surround the main building which is made out of beautiful Hinuera stone. The vines and cellar offer a lovely romantic setting for the photo shoot and we have asked permission from the owners and used some surrounding orchards. They are great for those funky shots between the fruit trees. There are also many offsite locations including Kumeu and Muriwai beach and forest. View Gallery »

The Wharf
Nestled between the native pohutukawa trees and sitting over the water. The Wharf offers awesome views of the city and harbour bridge. This unique two tier circle venue is fantastic for the reception, especially the cake cutting shots. Westhaven, under the harbour bridge and Wynyard Quarter are just a short drive away if your after a modern city look to your images. There are also many beautiful local beaches to use. Tauranga is known for it's extensive sunshine, beautiful white sandy beaches and the Mount. Tauranga township is great for a industrial type of shoot. There is plenty of funky street art and industrial areas including the rusty train tracks, motorway over bridge, and the container sites. If your after a more soft romantic beach look the Mount beach, rocks and dunes are perfect.

Waitakere Estate
Perched high in the Waitakere Rangers with many wood pigeons flying below and stunning views towards the city make Waitakere Estate unique. As you come down the drive surrounded by the lush green forest and first see the estate you won't believe your in Auckland. The views are amazing and there are many natural bush settings plus the curved architecture and natural picture frames make great photos. The iconic Kare Kare and Piha beaches are nearby. Woodlands Historic Homestead Hamilton
This New Zealand historic Villa is situated on a large block of land surrounded by stunning mature gardens. The interior is full of stunning period furniture and the floor to ceiling window's offer beautiful window light shots. The acres of gardens have everything from mature trees, flowers, bridges there is no shortage of options. View Gallery »

Located in the Hauraki Gulf Waiheke is full with farmland, forest, beaches, vineyards and olive groves. There is always a sheltered location out of the wind for a photo shoot on the island. If one side of the island is rough the other side will be calm. Because of it's size everything is close together so it is easy to get a nice variety of locations in one photo shoot.
